A young man of about 24 years of age was admitted into the Seoni Main Hospital on 21st March, 1925, with a tumour about the size of a cocoanut situated in the right parotid and submaxillary regions. On palpation the tumour felt loculated and each loculus gave a fluctuating feeling. The differential diagnosis apparently rested between the following:? (1) Lipoma. (2) Cystic degeneration of endothelioma of the parotid. (3) Retention cyst of the parotid or submaxillary gland. (4) Cystic hygroma of the neck. !Lipoma was eliminated by:?(a) The site of the tumour being an extremely rare seat of lipoma. (b) The characteristic lobulation of the tumour mass in a lipoma being absent.
